Bobby Ryan Scored The Best Goal Of The Season, Gets A Couple Of Young Fans A New Puppy
Well that sure is a shit ton of pressure. Imagine being in Bobby Ryan’s position here. You’re just out there trying to warm up before your game against the Rangers and all of a sudden a couple of snot-nosed brats come up to the glass and throw this on your plate? Your team is already scratching and clawing to get a playoff position and now you have this to worry about? And it’s not like goals have been incredibly easy for bobby Ryan to come by so far this season. He’s been having himself a decent start to 2016 with 9 points in 11 games but it’s not like the Cherry Hill, New Jersey native is pumping in goals at will. But I guess he just needed the little kick in the ass to get himself going.

Sure, some goals win you the Stanley Cup. Some goals end up winning you an Olympic gold medal. But goals for puppies go right up there with the rest of them. The pressure was on and Bobby Ryan pulled through. And now you realize why the Ottawa Senators are paying him $7.25 million for the next 6 years. Oh, and the family said that they’d be naming the puppy “Bobby”. Kinda creepy but whatever.

Hart Trophy Nominee Vinny Lecavalier?
This is Lecavalier’s 4th goal since getting traded to the Kings. And this one came with 12 seconds left on the clock to send the game to overtime which the Kings eventually ended up winning. I gotta be honest, I’m just as surprised as everybody else that Vinny has found his game again in LA. But when you actually think about it, it makes sense. He’s a big body. A little on the slower side at this point in his career but his hockey IQ is still just as high as ever. His game is perfectly suited for the Pacific Division and I’m happy for the guy. He deserves to end his career playing and it looks like this trade will work out for both teams which nobody really saw coming. The Kings addressed a need at the blue line with Schenn and now they’re getting more scoring for Vinny than they could have imagined. And since every Flyer that gets traded to the Kings ends up winning a Stanley Cup, I guess you can expect Lecavalier and Schenn to keep that tradition alive.
– The Tampa Bay Lightning have reportedly offered Steven Stamkos an 8-year contract at $8.5 million AAV. I get that this is just a starting point for negotiations but you still have to imagine that offer is a kick in the dick to Stamkos. If he hits free agency, I have no doubt in my mind that a team like Toronto will come in and offer somewhere around 11-11.5. Even if he stays in Tampa, it would need to be at least $10 million and I’m sure that even with the hometown discount, he’d like to be between Kane/Toews and what Gaborik Kopitar just got. So yeah, $8.5 is just a starting point but they better get to working soon because that trade deadline is now just 5 weeks away.
